DVD Player Battery

Electronic devices are sensitive to temperature. May it be hot or cold, any extreme can be bad. Prolonged exposure to intense temperature may cause a short term damage or a permanent one. However, this fact sometimes gets a little overlooked at since people are too busy minding little things such as this. Unfortunately, these “little things” may sometimes cause more damage than we expect.
Portable DVD player battery has a tendency to malfunction and be anomalous if its temperature gets too high. This is common for those who charge their DVD batteries too much. The performance of the DVD player battery will inevitably worsen and its life span will shorten largely.
Another factor would be the coldness of the place. All electronics eventually malfunction and get damaged as they get exposed to cold areas for prolonged periods of time. This is usually experienced during cold seasons such as winter. The chilly temperature may cause droplets of moisture to form within the equipment leading to damage. Putting your DVD player, DVD player battery, audio system and other electronic gadgets adjacent to the air conditioner or the window will increase the chances of ruining them because of the atmospheric temperature. The signals in the wiring of the DVD player battery may not function properly because of the frigid temperature. Batteries such as the Ni-Cd and Ni-MH variety will not work properly as the low temperature will reduce their discharge rate. Most batteries are made of electrolytes, and at -20 celsius, these electrolytes may reach its freezing point, making the battery’s charging rate slow down greatly. Frigid temperature will also raise the gas pressure inside your battery, which may break open the safety vent. For optimum effectiveness and rate of charging of your DVD battery player, place it in a room temperature of 50-30 celsius.
How will you prevent your batteries and gadgets from getting busted? Insulate your room with anything that will give warmth such as heaters. Never expose your DVD player and battery to places where temperatures spiral down below freezing. Always be vigilant about your electronic gadgets during winter. Avoid keeping your DVD player in your car trunks, especially on a cold day. If your DVD player does get exposed to chilly temperature, do not operate them immediately. Wait for it to warm before anything else.
DVD player batteries have a protective feature mechanism wherein it primarily protects the system from the surge of under-voltage and over-voltage. These protective features are always incorporated in the battery packs and are dependent on the cell.
Nowadays, DVD player battery packs are now installed with a thermistor element which is used to supervise the temperature levels of the cell in the battery packs. This is safety feature is getting more and more popular in hand-held system designs. High levels of temperature play a great role in Lithium-Ion battery instability and abnormality. This way, the thermistor will detect the temperatures inside the cell and relay it to the user so that he/ she will know the status of the battery pack. This way, if the thermistor reading reaches higher than the normal range, the user may delay charging until it reaches the appropriate temperature to do so.
Other than the primary protective features that are installed in the typical portable DVD player battery, most manufacturers set up additional protective features in their battery models. Each system may have a unique protective feature from the other, all in their specific design. A battery pack having an additional secondary protective feature increases its reliability and safety measures. Users will be strongly assured of the safety and endurance of their units. Before, DVD player batteries have a memory effect wherein you can only charge after these batteries discharge a specific amount of energy. However, one can recharge his DVD player battery anytime he wishes to.
In order for you to use your DVD player battery for a long time, you need to take specific measures in order to take care of it. To sum it all up, never expose your batteries to extreme heat or cold. Keep them afar from cooling devices like air conditioner and windows (especially in winter). If you are not planning on using your DVD player for a long time, make sure not to leave your battery inside. Keep your electronic devices in a moisture-free area. If this cannot be achieved, putting it in the Styrofoam will do. Always remember to operate these machines only when they are in room temperature.
